Dissecting Guanxi: It‘s Impact on Knowledge Sharing and the Innovation Capability in Chinese Firms

Abstract—Based on the theory of social capital the present study aimed to assess the impact of certain knowledge sharing dynamics at the team level on the innovation capability of Chinese firms. The dimensions considered were: Type of knowledge shared and received, quantity and quality. Also, this paper was set to discover the effect of specific knowledge sharing dynamics on the perceptions of trustworthiness towards outsiders to Guanxi networks, as well as on certain management practices aimed it improve the organizational environment.

Index Terms—Guanxi, innovation capability, knowledge sharing.
